Guilford County is launching a Low Income Homeowner Assistance Grant to support qualifying homeowners.
The program's application period will first open to residents ages 65 and older, beginning Wednesday, July 15, and will then expand to all eligible residents on Sunday, Aug. 16.
Guilford County is pleased to announce Aaron Brown as the new Budget Director.In his role as Budget Director, Brown will work closely with the County Manager’s office to oversee the development and administration of the county’s annual budget and capital improvement plan, ensuring fiscal sustainability, operational efficiency, and alignment with the county’s strategic priorities. Additionally, he will develop revenue projections, oversee countywide grants and community-based organization funding initiatives, and manage the operations and staff of the Budget Department.
In honor of Elder Abuse Awareness Month, the Guilford County Division of Social Services (DSS) is hosting a “Be Bold, Age with Attitude” Resource Fair on Thursday, June 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held in the DSS parking lot at 1203 Maple St. in Greensboro.The resource fair will feature more than 40 vendors and agencies serving aging adults and individuals. Attendees can access a wide range of resources, including free health screenings, mobile health units, and a variety of local food trucks.
The Guilford County Small Business and Entrepreneurship Department (SBED) and NC Cooperative Extension – Guilford County Center are partnering with the Triad Black Faith Leaders and Black Farmers Network to host the third annual Juneteenth Triad Farmers Market on Friday, June 19, at the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA in Greensboro.
Guilford County Animal Services will host a black-tie-themed adoption event celebrating adoptable black cats and dogs on Thursday, June 4, at the Guilford County Animal Resource Center.The “Black Tail Adoption Event” will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the animal shelter, 980 Guilford College Road, Greensboro.Community members are encouraged to dress up for the event and help spotlight black pets, which are often overlooked in shelters. Attendees also can enjoy ice cream from Alsies of the Triad.
Guilford County is pleased to announce the promotion of Lori Wright as Deputy Director of Internal Audit.In her new role, Wright will support the internal audit director in strengthening the department’s operational and strategic initiatives, while helping assess whether county operations are functioning effectively and efficiently, complying with applicable laws, policies, and regulations, and meeting established goals and objectives.

Guilford County Parks and Recreation Aquatic Centers at Bur-Mil Park, Hagan-Stone Park, and Northeast Park will open on Memorial Day weekend. Guilford County Emergency Medical Services (GCEMS) in partnership with the Cone Health Blood Bank announces the launch of its whole blood program following more than a year of planning. This pre-hospital medical initiative expands life-saving capabilities for critically injured patients across Guilford County. The program enables specially trained Guilford EMS paramedics to administer whole blood to select critical trauma patients in the field, significantly increasing long-term survival and positive patient outcomes
