The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health is alerting Guilford County residents that a cat on Woodmont Drive in Jamestown tested positive for the rabies virus on July 17, 2025. This is the 3rd confirmed case of animal rabies in 2025.
Guilford County is releasing the annual progress report on the implementation of the Guilford County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (GCHMP) as it seeks community input to update the plan. The GCHMP, developed by Guilford County Emergency Management, highlights the county’s ongoing efforts to build a more resilient community and reduce the impact of both natural and man-made disasters. A Hazard Mitigation Planning Team, including county departments, local jurisdictions, and stakeholders, assisted in compiling the plan and updates on implementation.
Guilford County held the third annual stakeholder input session on the use of the county’s opioid settlement funds on June 30. Hosted by the Guilford County Division of Public Health, the meeting was attended by 48 representatives from 20 key community partners critical to understanding and addressing the opioid epidemic, including health and human services agencies, law enforcement, universities and colleges, schools, non-profits, courts and Guilford County Government.
The Guilford County Division of Public Health will host upcoming back-to-school and community mobile clinics, which are available to all county residents.Clinic services include MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccinations for children and adults, COVID-19 vaccinations, mpox vaccinations, A1C tests, blood pressure checks and back-to-school vaccinations for rising seventh and twelfth graders.
During the final hours of their regularly scheduled meeting today, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to appoint Victor Isler as the next Guilford County Manager. Isler brings 17 years of experience in local government, with a demonstrated track record of fostering strong community partnerships and driving innovative public policy solutions. He has served in leadership roles across Durham County, Forsyth County, and most recently his tenure in Guilford County as Assistant County Manager. 
The Guilford County Tax Department is mailing approximately 229,980 tax notices this month, informing property owners about what to expect, key due dates, and resources available to support certain populations. To help property owners navigate the process, the Guilford County Tax Department offered the following tips.
Due to a recent fire on Sunday, July 6, the Guilford County Katie S. Cashion Center, located at 201. S. Greene St., in Greensboro, remains closed until further notice. The Katie S. Cashion Center is home to various county departments, including the Family Justice Center (FJC), Finance/Purchasing, Human Resources, and Internal Audit. The Family Justice Center and Human Resources are currently developing alternative location and operations plans for the public.
Early this morning, Guilford County received reports of fraudulent emails impersonating the County Communications Department's GovDelivery account. We are working to identify the origin of the fake emails. Neither the County network nor any County services were impacted by this breach.As we investigate and address this issue, we recommend reviewing and following cyber security best practices. DO NOT share sensitive credential information such as email addresses, passwords, or banking information with these impersonators.Additional recommendations:

The filing period to run for municipal offices begins Monday, July 7, at 8 a.m. and ends on Friday, July 18, at noon. Residents wishing to run for municipal office in Guilford County in the following cities and towns must file notices of candidacy and pay the appropriate filing fee before Friday, July 18, at noon to be candidates on the ballot.
