Today, in partnership with Guilford County District Courts and Court Support for Families, Guilford County is expanding its Legal Support Center to the Greensboro Courthouse, 201 S. Eugene St., Room LG60. The Center opened its first site at the High Point Courthouse in July 2025.
The Guilford County Legal Support Center provides civil court litigants with legal resources and guidance to help them navigate the court system more effectively. By helping residents understand court processes and connect with court-approved resources, the Center is designed to improve judicial efficiency, reduce procedural delays, and ensure access to the civil justice system is not limited by a resident's ability to afford legal representation. The Center does not support criminal court cases or provide legal advice.
The county played a central role in moving the Legal Support Center from concept to implementation, following a presentation to the Board of Commissioners by former Chief District Court Judge Teresa Vincent.
“This center represents what can happen when local government, our courts and community partners recognize a need and work together to find a solution,” said Board of Commissioners Chairman Melvin “Skip” Alston. “When this idea first came before the Board in January 2024, we understood its potential and committed to moving it forward. By November of that year, the Board had dedicated $544,000 in ARPA-enabled County funding to help make the Legal Support Center a reality. I especially want to thank Commissioner Frankie Jones for reaching across the plaza and working closely with Judge Teresa Vincent and our court partners to carry this project from an idea to the opening of the High Point center last summer, and now to a second location here in Greensboro. High Point gave us the opportunity to see this model at work. Opening Greensboro allows us to build on that success and extend a valuable service to even more Guilford County residents. This is yet another example of OneGuilford in action.”
“Opening the Greensboro Legal Support Center is about making sure access to our court system is not determined by whether someone can afford an attorney or knows how to navigate a complicated legal process,” said District 7 Commissioner Frankie T. Jones, Jr. “We have already seen the difference this program can make in our High Point courthouse location, where 272 residents have received assistance since services began last August. Now, we are expanding that same support to our Greensboro courthouse location, giving more residents access to trusted information, court-approved resources, and practical guidance when they may be facing some of the most difficult circumstances in their lives. What began as a vision for better access to justice is now growing into a resource that can serve residents across Guilford County and provide a model for other communities.”
The new Legal Support Center is located at the Guilford County Courthouse in Greensboro. The Greensboro Center is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., while the High Point Center, located at 505 E. Green Dr., Room 140, is open Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
