Guilford County is pleased to announce Debra “Debbi” Rabalais as the new Director of Homeless Services. She will serve as a liaison to the Guilford County Continuum of Care and to municipal and community partners as the county advances strategies to prevent and reduce homelessness.Rabalais brings more than 20 years of experience in housing and homelessness services, along with a strong background in nonprofit program management. Her expertise includes compliance and funding oversight, public-private partnership development, and the design and implementation of housing programs.
The Guilford County Tax Department invites county residents to attend a series of Tax Reappraisal Educational Meetings to inform county residents about the upcoming 2026 tax reappraisal process.Each meeting will start at 6 p.m. with a presentation on how property taxes are assessed, how to verify updated property values online, how to navigate the appeal process, and opportunities for exemptions for the elderly and veterans. County staff will be available to provide one-on-one consultation on eligibility for tax exemptions. 
The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health is alerting Guilford County residents that a raccoon on Spencer-Dixon Road in Greensboro and a skunk on Brotherstwo Road in Colfax have tested positive for the rabies virus. The raccoon tested positive on January 5 and the skunk tested positive on January 6. These are the second and third confirmed cases of animal rabies in 2026.
The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health is alerting Guilford County residents that a cat on Apple Wyrick Road in Gibsonville tested positive for the rabies virus on January 5, 2026. This is the first confirmed case of animal rabies in 2026.
Guilford County is preparing to open grant applications for Community-Based Organization (CBO) funding on Friday, Jan. 30, for the fiscal year 2027 (FY27). Each year, the county provides funds to a variety of community organizations meeting the definition of a 501(c) non-profit to facilitate economically, culturally, and civically valuable services. The county conducts a competitive process to distribute the funding, with a standard application and training required for all applicants requesting resources.
Guilford County is asking residents and businesses to share feedback through a brief online survey on how they manage garbage and recycling as the county develops its upcoming Solid Waste Management Plan. The survey gathers information on service satisfaction, recycling habits, accessibility, and community priorities related to waste management.
The Guilford County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) will begin accepting Requests for Proposals (RFP) for fiscal year 2026-27 on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026. Community-based agencies that provide services for at-risk or delinquent youth, including counseling, evaluations and assessments, substance abuse treatment, meditation, group home care, temporary shelter, tutoring, or mentoring, are encouraged to apply.
The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health is alerting Guilford County residents that a raccoon on Arden Place in Greensboro tested positive for the rabies virus on December 2, 2025. This is the eighth confirmed case of animal rabies in 2025.

Sheriff Danny H. Rogers announces that the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) is officially beginning the transition to the new Sheriff’s Office Administrative Building located at 401 W. Sycamore St., Greensboro, NC 27401. This move will centralize several key administrative functions of the Sheriff’s Office under one roof to better serve the residents of Guilford County.The Otto Zenke Building, located at 400 W. Washington St., Greensboro, NC 27401, will no longer be available to the public after Monday, Dec. 8. The following divisions will be housed in the new building:
