The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health is alerting Guilford County residents that a raccoon on Huffine Ridge Drive in Gibsonville tested positive for the rabies virus on January 22, 2026. This is the fourth confirmed case of animal rabies in 2026.

Guilford County is hosting its final public meeting on its Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, following FEMA's recent approval. The mitigation plan identifies and assesses the region's hazard risks for natural disasters and identifies strategies to minimize or manage those risks. Beginning Thursday, Jan. 22, the Guilford County Family Justice Center (FJC) Courthouse Pop-Up, located inside the Guilford County Courthouse in Greensboro, will close. The temporary site will be closed Thursday, Jan. 22, and Friday, Jan. 23, as FJC staff prepare to relocate services back to the Katie S. Cashion Center, 201 S. Greene St., Greensboro. She will serve as a liaison to the Guilford County Continuum of Care and to municipal and community partners as the county advances strategies to prevent and reduce homelessness.Rabalais brings more than 20 years of experience in housing and homelessness services, along with a strong background in nonprofit program management. Her expertise includes compliance and funding oversight, public-private partnership development, and the design and implementation of housing programs.
The Guilford County Tax Department invites county residents to attend a series of Tax Reappraisal Educational Meetings to inform county residents about the upcoming 2026 tax reappraisal process.Each meeting will start at 6 p.m. with a presentation on how property taxes are assessed, how to verify updated property values online, how to navigate the appeal process, and opportunities for exemptions for the elderly and veterans. County staff will be available to provide one-on-one consultation on eligibility for tax exemptions.
