Guilford County will celebrate National County Government Month (NCGM) during the month of April to showcase how the county supports residents and builds healthy, safe, and vibrant communities.County departments provide core and essentials services to support public safety, health and human services to keep residents across the county healthy and secure.
Guilford County Division of Social Services (GCDSS) is pleased to announce the promotion of Shelia Stokes to Deputy Director of Social Services.In her new role, Stokes will oversee the implementation and coordination of GCDSS programs and services, ensuring alignment across internal operations and external partners. She will also provide leadership for the agency’s service divisions, including transportation, human resources, planning, and professional development.
Guilford County invites all county residents to participate in the Spring Recycling Event on Saturday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to noon, at Eastern Guilford Middle School, 435 Peeden Drive, Gibsonville, NC. The event will also feature a Medication Take-Back station hosted by the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) and a Food Drive hosted by A Simple Gesture.
Every Baby Guilford invites the Guilford County community to attend Black Maternal Health Week 2026: Walk & Family Day, an interactive health fair promoting access to maternal health resources, education and support. This event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 at Center City Park in Greensboro.
Guilford County Farm’s annual plant sale will kick off on Wednesday, April 1, at 9 a.m. The sale will run through Saturday, May 30, or until all plants are sold. Residents and visitors are welcome to shop every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.The plants available for purchase are grown by Guilford County Parks staff at the county’s greenhouse at the Guilford County Farm located at 7315 Howerton Rd., Gibsonville, NC.
The Guilford County Child Fatality Prevention Team announces the opening of nominations for the 24th annual "Safety Makes Cents" award, which honors exceptional contributions in the field of childhood injury prevention.One recipient will be selected to receive the 2026 award, which includes a $2,000 grant. The awarded funds must be used to support and advance the recipient's ongoing safety initiatives. 
The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health is alerting Guilford County residents that a raccoon on Nathanael Greene Drive in Greensboro tested positive for the rabies virus on March 24, 2026. This is the eighth confirmed case of animal rabies in 2026.
The Guilford County Board of Commissioners will hold a series of budget town hall meetings and livability forums to hear from the community about the fiscal year 2026-27 county budget and proposed strategic plan. There will be five sessions held from early to mid-April at different locations throughout the county.
