Guilford County Planning and Development and Guilford County Parks and Recreation are seeking volunteers for National CleanUp Day on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 9 to11 a.m. at Benbow Nature Preserve, 2279 Britton St., Greensboro.
Volunteers are needed to help clean and remove litter throughout the preserve. The cleanup will provide an opportunity for residents to learn about the impact litter can have on local waterways while helping care for a community green space.
Benbow Nature Preserve features walking trails, picnic areas, and an urban orchard with native fruit and nut trees available for community use. The preserve is open seven days a week during daylight hours, from sunrise to sunset.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Participants should wear waterproof boots or closed-toe shoes, long pants and a hat. Volunteers are also encouraged to bring work gloves and a reusable water bottle. Community service hours will be available upon request, and volunteers will also have an opportunity to receive prizes for participating. Adults interested in volunteering can register online below.
