The residency deadline for the November 3, 2026 General Election is October 4, 2026.

• Moved within Guilford County:
  • If you are already registered in Guilford County and moved on or before October 4, 2026, you may vote at your assigned polling place based on your current residence. You will complete an address update at the polling place to receive the correct ballot.
  • If you are an existing voter and want to change your voter registration address prior to October 4, view the Voting Information page for details on updating your registration 
     
• Moved from another county or state:
  • If you moved into Guilford County from another county in North Carolina or another state on or before October 4, 2026, you must register to vote in Guilford County.
    • The voter registration deadline is October 9, 2026. View the Voting Information page for details on how to register to vote in Guilford County.

In specific election years (typically odd-numbered years in North Carolina), Guilford County may only have municipalities participating in an election cycle. Not all properties in Guilford County are incorporated within city limits. In municipal election years (usually odd numbered years), the following applies:

If the Voter Search Tool indicates "No eligible ballots" in a municipal election cycle, the resident likely lives in an unincorporated area. 

Residential properties in unincorporated areas are part of the local, county government only; these areas are not part of a city or town government. These residents pay county taxes only and are excluded from additional city tax payments. Because of this, there is no local municipal government like a city council or mayor that directly represents these addresses. These residents vote for county officials only (like Board of Commissioners or Education) rather than city officials (like Mayor and City Council/Ward representatives).

Residents within the municipal limits of a city or town who vote in municipal elections pay additional city taxes to help fund city services like city police, fire departments, and road maintenance. Unincorporated property residents are provided local services like Sheriff, fire, and public works, by the county or other regional authorities, not the city.

If the voter disputes property jurisdiction assignment or if a property was annexed within city limits and the election database has not yet been updated with the municipal assignment, the voter should cast a provisional ballot so we can research the address. When research shows the property was annexed into city limits, our database is corrected, and the provisional ballot is reviewed and considered through a local board decision process.

The below polling place locations have permanently changed and are effective for the 2026 election cycle. These are permanent polling location changes and the affected voters will receive new voter registration cards confirming these permanent polling location changes.

  715 Guilford College Rd, Greensboro, NC 27409
  Former location was Guilford Baptist Church 

The below polling place changes indicate a name change of the location only. The address and all other information remain in place for these locations.
 

• St. John's Church is the new name for Precinct G50
  1304 Merritt Dr, Greensboro, NC 27407 (no change)
  Former location name was known as St. John's United Methodist Church
   
• NC A&T Frye Hall - Academic Classroom Bldg is the new name for Precinct G68
  1110 E Washington St, Greensboro, NC 27411
  Former location for this address was known as NC A&T Academic Classroom Bldg
   
• Doris Henderson Newcomers School is the new name for Precinct G70
  1110 E Washington St, Greensboro, NC 27401 (no change)
  Former location name was known as Washington Montessori School
