The residency deadline was October 6, 2024. Existing Guilford County registered voters that moved on or before October 6 but have not updated their address may go to the new precinct voting location based on their new, current address. These voters will simply complete an address change to ensure they receive the correct districts on their ballot for their current residence. If a voter has not updated their registration address and needs to know the assigned polling location for their new address, email guilfordelections@guilfordcountync.gov or call 336-641-3836, and provide new address.

The only elections in Guilford County in 2025 are municipal elections. Not all properties in Guilford County are incorporated within city limits. If the Voter Search Tool indicates "No eligible ballots" in a municipal election cycle, the resident likely lives in an unincorporated area.

Residential properties in unincorporated areas are part of the local, county government only; these areas are not part of a city or town government. These residents pay county taxes only and are excluded from additional city tax payments. Because of this, there is no local municipal government like a city council or mayor that directly represents these addresses. These residents vote for county officials only (like Board of Commissioners or Education) rather than city officials (like Mayor and City Council/Ward representatives).

Residents within the municipal limits of a city or town who vote in municipal elections pay additional city taxes to help fund city services like city police, fire departments, and road maintenance. Unincorporated property residents are provided local services like Sheriff, fire, and public works, by the county or other regional authorities, not the city.

Note: the City of High Point does not have a municipal election in 2025. The next election for the City of High Point contests will be in 2027.

If a property was annexed within city limits and the election database has not yet been updated with the municipal assignment, the voter should cast a provisional ballot so we can research the address. When research shows the property was annexed into city limits, our database is corrected, and the provisional ballot is recommended for approval.
