The Guilford County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Carolyn Thompson as the new County Attorney for Guilford County Government, effective Monday, Feb. 2, 2026.

Due to ongoing weather-related conditions, some county services continue to be impacted:

Budget Director Toy Beeninga is Guilford County’s new Deputy County Manager.

Guilford County offices and facilities will open under normal hours Wednesday, Jan. 28, with two exceptions:

The Guilford County Tax Department is postponing the Tax Reappraisal Education Session scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 6.p.m. at the NC Cooperative Extension - Guilford County Center due to inclement winter weather conditions.

Guilford County Emergency Management has shifted the posture of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to Level 2, an enhanced watch, at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26.

Due to anticipated early morning road and weather conditions, Guilford County administrative offices will open at 12 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Due to anticipated precipitation patterns and expected overnight freezing rain from Winter Storm Fern, all general county services, operations, and facilities will be closed Monday, Jan. 26.

In preparation for the expected winter weather moving through the area, Guilford County Emergency Management will activate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to Level 3, a full activation, at 7 p.m. tonight, Saturday, Jan. 24.
