Guilford County was among 39 North Carolina jurisdictions to earn recognition in the 2026 North Carolina City & County Communicators (NC3C) Excellence in Communications Awards. Guilford County won first place in the photography category, as well as three second-place awards in the website, citizen participation, and logo categories, and two third place recognitions in videography and promotional video.
The Guilford County Communications Department earned first place in the large population photography category for a photo of a child watching the annual Fireworks Extravaganza at Northeast Park. Judges described the photo as “absolutely stunning,” praising its use in key communication materials throughout the year.
The county’s redesigned website also earned second place, with judges highlighting its “resident-first navigation approach [that] demonstrates a thoughtful content strategy focused on usability.” Additionally, the communications team received second place in the citizen participation category for the 2025 Budget Town Hall series. The judges commended the department’s “strong strategic communications plan” that engaged the community effectively. The department also received recognition for logo design for the Guilford County Family Justice Center (FJC) Courthouse Pop-Up.
The Guilford County Sheriff's Office earned two third-place awards for videography and promotional video in the large population categories. The Sheriff's Office was recognized for its "Apply Today!" hiring video and “A Day in the Life,” which highlights a behind-the-scenes look at a detention officer’s shift at the Guilford County Detention Center.
