Guilford County Animal Services will host a black-tie-themed adoption event celebrating adoptable black cats and dogs on Thursday, June 4, at the Guilford County Animal Resource Center.

The “Black Tail Adoption Event” will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the animal shelter, 980 Guilford College Road, Greensboro.

Community members are encouraged to dress up for the event and help spotlight black pets, which are often overlooked in shelters. Attendees also can enjoy ice cream from Alsies of the Triad.

All county residents are invited to participate in Guilford Creek Week, a collaboration between Guilford County, City of Greensboro, City of High Point, Town of Kernersville, Stormwater SMART local businesses, and nonprofits from Saturday, May 30, through Saturday, June 6. 

The NC Cooperative Extension - Guilford County Center invites everyone to attend Celebrate Pollinators Day on Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Karen C. Neill Demonstration Garden, 3309 Burlington Rd., Greensboro.

The Guilford County Division of Social Services (GCDSS) is actively seeking dedicated protective services social workers and eligibility case workers. To connect with qualified candidates, GCDSS is hosting a hiring fair with on-site interviews on Wednesday, May 20, from 2 to 6 p.m. at its Greensboro office, located at 1203 Maple St.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Guilford County, in partnership with Alexander Youth Network, will host a Mental Health Resource Fair on Saturday, May 2, from noon to 4 p.m. at 925 Third St. in Greensboro. 

Guilford County Farm’s annual plant sale will kick off on Wednesday, April 1, at 9 a.m. The sale will run through Saturday, May 30, or until all plants are sold. Residents and visitors are welcome to shop every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

The plants available for purchase are grown by Guilford County Parks staff at the county’s greenhouse at the Guilford County Farm located at 7315 Howerton Rd., Gibsonville, NC.

The Guilford County Board of Commissioners will hold a series of budget town hall meetings and livability forums to hear from the community about the fiscal year 2026-27 county budget and proposed strategic plan. There will be five sessions held from early to mid-April at different locations throughout the county.

Guilford County, the Town of Pleasant Garden, and community partners invite all county residents to participate in the Pleasant Garden Community Recycling Event on Saturday, March 14, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Pleasant Garden Community Center, 5024 Alliance Church Rd.

Guilford County Environmental Services will host two public open house meetings on the county’s Solid Waste Management Plan update.

The Guilford County Tax Department invites county residents to attend a series of Tax Reappraisal Educational Meetings to inform county residents about the upcoming 2026 tax reappraisal process.

Each meeting will start at 6 p.m. with a presentation on how property taxes are assessed, how to verify updated property values online, how to navigate the appeal process, and opportunities for exemptions for the elderly and veterans. County staff will be available to provide one-on-one consultation on eligibility for tax exemptions.
