Guilford County Emergency Management Shifts Emergency Operations Center Activation to Enhanced Watch
Guilford County Emergency Management has shifted the posture of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to Level 2, an enhanced watch, at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26. This level of activation allows for Emergency Management staff to continuing monitoring conditions associated with the winter weather that moved through Guilford County over the past several days.
The Guilford County Tax Department is postponing the Tax Reappraisal Education Session scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 6.p.m. at the NC Cooperative Extension - Guilford County Center due to inclement winter weather conditions.The postponed Tax Reappraisal Education Session was the third session, following two sessions held last week. Updates on a new date will be published on GuilfordCountyNC.gov/2026Reappraisal.

Due to anticipated precipitation patterns and expected overnight freezing rain from Winter Storm Fern, all general county services, operations, and facilities will be closed Monday, Jan. 26.
In preparation for the expected winter weather moving through the area, Guilford County Emergency Management will activate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to Level 3, a full activation, at 7 p.m. tonight, Saturday, Jan. 24.

The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health is alerting Guilford County residents that a raccoon on Huffine Ridge Drive in Gibsonville tested positive for the rabies virus on January 22, 2026. This is the fourth confirmed case of animal rabies in 2026.
Guilford County Parks will host two upcoming hiring events ahead of a busy summer season. The Parks Department is currently looking to fill several part-time positions across multiple park locations, including Bur-Mil Park in Greensboro, Gibson Park in High Point, Hagan-Stone Park in Pleasant Garden, Northeast Park in Gibsonville, and Southwest Park in Greensboro.
Guilford County has declared a local State of Emergency due to the potential impacts of the forecasted winter storm predicted to move through the area this weekend. The State of Emergency will go into effect at noon (12 p.m.) Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026.
