The Guilford County Historic Preservation Commission’s purpose is to safeguard it’s heritage by preserving property therin that embodies important elements of it’s cultural, social, economic, political, and architectural history.

The GCHPC also promotes the use and conservation of such property for the education, enrichment and pleasure of the residents of the county and the state as a whole.
The jurisdictions of Guilford County, High Point, Jamestown, Gibsonville, Greensboro, Oak Ridge, and Whitsett established this Commission in 1980. Its primary purpose is to help preserve and protect Guilford County’s unique architecture, rich history, and cultural heritage, and to provide historic preservation services to member jurisdictions.

The Guilford County Historic Preservation Commission normally meets the third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 P.M. in the Blue Room, Old Courthouse, 301 W. Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27402.(1st floor). Please refer to the Meeting Schedule for specific dates.
