Guilford County Board of Commissioners announced today that it has received and accepted the retirement announcement of County Manager Michael Halford.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed a case of measles in a child who was visiting Forsyth and Guilford counties. The child became ill while traveling to NC from another country where measles outbreaks have recently been reported.

With summer temperatures on the rise, Guilford County is reminding the public of the importance of taking precautions during extreme heat to prevent illness, injury, and even death.

Guilford County Parks invites the community to kick off Independence Day celebrations with the county’s largest fireworks display at the annual Fireworks Extravaganza. This highly anticipated event will take place at Northeast Park, located at 3441 Northeast Park Dr.

Starting Friday, June 13, through Monday, June 30, Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is reducing the adoption fees for cats and kittens from $75 to $25.
