The Guilford County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt a $833.7 million budget for the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 on Thursday, June 20, 2024. The Board of Commissioners’ adopted budget maintains the current property tax rate of 73.05₵ per $100 while funding the county’s mandated essential core services, investing in public and higher education, and supporting workforce and economic development.

At the 2024 annual County Commissioners’ Legislative Conference, hosted through the National Association of Counties (NACo) in Washington DC, the Guilford County Delegation brought back a new national leadership role to add to its already healthy leadership resume.   At the conference earlier this month, Guilford County Commissioner At-Large Kay Cashion was appointed to serve on the NACo Board of Directors in one of the Association President’s 10 at-large seats.
Mobilization for the Guilford County Government Plaza Construction Project is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 4, 2024. The construction project of the Government Plaza, located between the Guilford County Old Courthouse, Guilford County Courthouse, and the City of Greensboro’s Melvin Municipal Building (City Hall), includes repair of structural elements in the plaza parking deck, excavation of the plaza level to allow installation of a new waterproofing system, and a new landscape plan to renovate the plaza level.
