Guilford County is working with local jurisdictions and community partners to update the county’s Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan identifies and assesses the region's hazard risks for natural disasters and identifies strategies to minimize or manage those risks.
In response to recent confirmed rabies cases in the Jamestown area, Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is suspending the intake of healthy cats. This measure is being taken out of an abundance of caution and will remain in effect until further notice. GCAS will continue to accept cats that are sick, injured, or pose a danger to the public.Residents who suspect a cat may be exhibiting signs of rabies are urged to contact Guilford County Animal Control immediately at 336-641-5990.
Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is hosting a Mobile Pet Assistance Clinic (MPAC) on Thursday, July 24 from 12 to 3 p.m. at 710 Huffine Mill Road, Greensboro. The clinic will offer vital resources to local pet owners at no cost.The clinic will provide free one-year rabies vaccinations, pet food, and essential pet supplies. The MPAC event is part of GCAS’s ongoing effort to support the health and well-being of pets and their families throughout the county.
The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health is alerting Guilford County residents that a cat on Harvey Road in Jamestown tested positive for the rabies virus on July 22, 2025. This is the fourth confirmed case of animal rabies in 2025.

Guilford County is releasing the annual progress report on the implementation of the Guilford County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (GCHMP) as it seeks community input to update the plan. The GCHMP, developed by Guilford County Emergency Management, highlights the county’s ongoing efforts to build a more resilient community and reduce the impact of both natural and man-made disasters. A Hazard Mitigation Planning Team, including county departments, local jurisdictions, and stakeholders, assisted in compiling the plan and updates on implementation.

The Guilford County Division of Public Health will host upcoming back-to-school and community mobile clinics, which are available to all county residents.Clinic services include MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccinations for children and adults, COVID-19 vaccinations, mpox vaccinations, A1C tests, blood pressure checks and back-to-school vaccinations for rising seventh and twelfth graders.
