Guilford County has opened applications for Community-Based Organization (CBO) funding for the 2027 fiscal year (FY27). The application can be found here: GuilfordCountyNC.gov/CBOs
Each year, the county provides funds to a variety of community organizations meeting the definition of a 501(c) non-profit to facilitate economically, culturally, and civically valuable services. The county conducts a competitive process to distribute the funding, with a standard application and training required for all applicants requesting resources. Applicants should be registered as a 501(c), registered with the Secretary of State as a nonprofit, and either have an office in Guilford County or predominantly serve Guilford County residents.
The CBO application will be open today, Friday, Jan. 30, through Friday, March 6, 2026, at 5 p.m.
An upcoming virtual information session will be held on Monday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. The information session will provide a comprehensive overview of the CBO timeline, application, and contract template. It will also address any new changes slated for FY27. Interested organizations can register on the county's CBO website. A recording of the information session will be available on the county’s website.
In addition to the information sessions, Guilford County is partnering with the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium to offer two grant writing workshops in February. These workshops are designed to support organizations interested in applying for CBO funding by providing guidance on developing competitive applications and strengthening proposals. Workshops will be held Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m., and Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 9 a.m. Registration details for the workshop will be available on the county’s CBO website.
