The Guilford County Division of Public Health invites families and community members to a National Child Abuse Prevention Month event on Wednesday, April 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Warnersville Community Recreation Center (601 Doak Street, Greensboro), celebrating the theme “Positive Childhoods Start With Us.”
This no-cost community event will bring together local organizations, families, and residents to learn how everyone can play a role in keeping children safe and supported.
Attendees will enjoy fun activities, music, and games, along with no-cost safety items and resources. The event is designed to raise awareness about child abuse prevention while creating a welcoming space for families and residents to connect with local resources.
“Creating positive childhoods starts with community effort,” said Courtney McFadden, Guilford County Public Health Director. “We hope this celebration inspires families and neighbors to work together to keep every child in Guilford County safe and cared for.”
MMR Vaccine Clinic Available Onsite
The Guilford County Division of Public Health will offer an MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine clinic during the event. No appointment is necessary. Please ensure that your, or your child’s, health insurance (including Medicaid) information and immunization records are readily available at the time of your visit. A parent or guardian will need to be present with children.
The MMR vaccine provides protection against measles, a highly contagious disease that can spread rapidly within communities. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services recommends that all unvaccinated individuals ages one year and older receive the MMR vaccine to protect themselves and those around them.
