The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health is alerting Guilford County residents that a skunk on West Harrell Road in Oak Ridge tested positive for the rabies virus on May 13, 2026. This is the ninth confirmed case of animal rabies in 2026.

The Guilford County Child Fatality Prevention Team announces the opening of nominations for the 24th annual "Safety Makes Cents" award, which honors exceptional contributions in the field of childhood injury prevention.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) has confirmed that an out-of-state resident who tested positive for measles traveled through Guilford County on Friday, March 13. The Guilford County Division of Public Health (GCDPH), in coordination with NCDHHS, is notifying the public of a potential exposure and encouraging vaccination for those who are not protected.

Services will include no-cost, confidential testing for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and Hepatitis B and C. Screenings will include blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and blood sugar levels.

In response to the ongoing measles outbreak in South Carolina and to help safeguard Guilford County residents, the Guilford County Division of Public Health is expanding access to measles vaccinations.

The Guilford County Division of Public Health will offer extended-hour clinics for the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccination. Walk-ins are welcome; no appointment is required.
