There are many ways you can help the Shelter – join our team of volunteers! There are many, and varied, opportunities of interest (and fun!) that volunteers provide invaluable assistance with. They range from walking/socializing the cats & dogs to being a volunteer photographer to assisting at adoption events. For the full list see page 2 of the volunteer application.
Dog Days Out
As a volunteer at GCAS you can make a direct impact on the lives of Shelter animals right here in Guilford County, and help them increase their chances of finding a loving Forever Home, by participating in the Dog Days Out program!
After 20 hours of volunteer service, you can come in and take one of our high-energy dogs for a walk/jog/run in the morning, starting as early as 10:30 am!
All you need to do (after completing 20 volunteer hours) is fill out the Dog Days Out contract, turn it into Regina Gardner, Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator, pick out a dog, and be on your way.
Volunteers are needed to help with adoption events throughout the year; most take place on Saturdays. We are looking for adoption event leaders who can pick up the animals in the morning, transport them to the event, and process adoption applications at the event. We are also looking for volunteers who can meet the leader at the event site, hold animals during the event, help give customers information about the animals, and solicit donations.
The Guilford County Animal Shelter needs volunteers who can help with our numerous and varied events. Some of those events are: pet education programs at schools and libraries, visits to senior residential and assisted living centers, and fundraisers, to name a few. If you are interested in helping with off-site events, we would love to have your help!
If you have any questions about becoming a Guilford County Animal Services Volunteer, please call Regina Gardner at 336-641-3404, or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
