Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is temporarily pausing the intake of cats and kittens through Sunday, November 9, following confirmed positive cases of feline panleukopenia virus (FPV).Precautionary measures are being taken to help prevent the spread of the virus and protect the health and safety of animals currently in care.The virus was detected in nine cats brought into the Guilford County Animal Resource Center from the Greensboro areas, including Spry Street, Darden Road, and Chadford Place.

Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is alerting residents of confirmed cases of Feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) at the Guilford County Animal Resource Center. The virus was detected in nine cats brought into the animal shelter from cats in the Greensboro areas, including Spry Street, Darden Road, and Chadford Place. GCAS will not limit the intake of cats at this point. GCAS currently has four of six intake halls under quarantine for the next two-week period.
In honor of Veterans Day, Guilford County will illuminate county buildings, including the Old Guilford County Courthouse, in a vibrant green light from Tuesday, Nov. 4, through Tuesday, Nov. 11, as part of Operation Green Light, a nationwide campaign supporting and showing appreciation for military veterans.The initiative, led by the National Association of Counties (NACo), raises awareness around the unique challenges faced by many veterans while highlighting the resources available to them at the local, state, and federal levels.
The Guilford County Board of Elections is sharing that the in-person, early voting period for the November 4, 2025 Municipal General Election will begin on Thursday, October 16, starting at 8 a.m. at the Old Guilford County Courthouse in Greensboro. Five other sites will open for voting on Thursday, Oct. 23. The final day of early voting for all sites will be Saturday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m.
