Starting Friday, June 13, through Monday, June 30, Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is reducing the adoption fees for cats and kittens from $75 to $25. Some cats at the Guilford County Animal Resource Center are still under quarantine following recent cases of panleukopenia virus (FPV) at the animal shelter. The quarantine period is scheduled to last through Thursday, June 26. While some cats remain in isolation, GCAS has many cats and kittens available for adoptions.

To connect with qualified candidates, GCDSS is hosting a hiring event with on-site interviews on Monday, June 16, from 2 to 6 p.m. at its Greensboro office, located at 1203 Maple St.
Guilford County is pleased to announce the appointment of Courtney McFadden, MPH, as the county’s new Division of Public Health director. In this role, she leads public health’s efforts in protecting and promoting the health of more than half a million residents, guiding a committed public health workforce, and advancing strategies focused on prevention, community engagement, and long-term impact. McFadden will serve as a team member of the Assistant County Manager for Successful People and Health and Human Services Director Victor Isler. Her first day is Monday, July 14.

Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is limiting the intake of cats and kittens due to positive cases of feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) at the Guilford County Animal Resource Center. The virus was detected in four kittens brought into the animal shelter from the High Point and Pleasant Garden area. As a result, the GCAS is closing off two kitten halls and will place cats and kittens currently at the shelter under quarantine for the next two weeks to reduce the spread of FPV.
The farmers market will be held on Thursday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature minority farmers offering fresh, locally grown produce and meat. The event will also showcase live music and performances, craft vendors, and local food trucks. There is no admission fee to attend the farmers' market.
