The Guilford County Health and Human Services Agency - Department of Public Health welcomes all middle and high school children and parents and guardians to visit select Guilford County Schools located in Greensboro, High Point and Gibsonville for required back-to-school immunizations.
The Guilford County Department of Public Health will host five walk-in immunization clinics (no appointment needed) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
- October 19: Eastern Guilford High School (415 Peeden Drive, Gibsonville)
- October 20: Grimsley High School (801 North Josephine Boyd Street, Greensboro)
- October 22: High Point Central High School (801 Ferndale Boulevard, High Point)
- October 23: Northwest Guilford High School (5240 Northwest School Road, Greensboro)
- October 26: Southwest Guilford High School (4364 Barrow Road, Greensboro)
The North Carolina General Statutes (G.S. 130A-152(a)) require school-aged children to have up-to-date immunizations including MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis), polio, varicella (chickenpox) and meningococcal (MCV). Guilford County Schools requires proof of immunization within 30 calendar days of the first enrollment date. Required vaccinations for seventh- and twelfth-grade entry, as well as any overdue immunizations, should be completed before the start of the school year. "Immunizations are one of the most effective ways to protect children from serious, vaccine-preventable diseases," said Courtney McFadden, Guilford County Public Health Director. "By offering immunization clinics for middle and high schoolers, we are helping families access the vaccines their children need to meet school requirements while supporting the health and well-being of our community. As the school year is underway, we encourage parents and guardians to review their child's immunization records and schedule any needed vaccinations to help keep their children and our school communities healthy and protected."
Parents and guardians should bring their child's insurance or Medicaid card, along with immunization records, to the clinic. Parents and guardians should ensure that information for in-network providers—Medicaid, United Health Care, and Blue Cross Blue Shield—is readily available. The Guilford County Department of Public Health will collect fees for services covered by out-of-network insurance plans.
Any student also may receive the required immunizations by appointment at Guilford County Department of Public Health clinic locations in Greensboro (1100 East Wendover Avenue) and High Point (501 East Green Drive) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 336-641-3245 to schedule an appointment.
Parents and guardians also may schedule appointments for the required immunizations with their child’s in-network primary care physician or at participating pharmacy clinics.
