Guilford County Environmental Services and the Town of Oak Ridge invite all county residents to participate in its upcoming Oak Ridge Community Recycling Event on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Oak Ridge Elementary School, located at 2050 Oak Ridge Road, Oak Ridge, NC 27301.
The recycling event is free and open to all Guilford County residents. Business waste will not be accepted.
Accepted items include:
• Appliances: Washers, dryers, push mowers, hot water heaters, etc. No fuel.
• Electronics: Computers, televisions, microwaves, video game consoles, electronic toys, and cell phones. No batteries.
• Tires: Up to 50 passenger tires or 10 heavy truck tires per vehicle. No large equipment tires.
• Foam, plastic bags, and cardboard: Clean plastic bags and broken-down cardboard boxes. Foam peanuts will not be accepted.
• Personal documents for shredding: Secure shredding available for up to five file boxes per vehicle.
Household hazardous waste items such as batteries, fuels, and bulbs will not be accepted at this event. Residents may take household hazardous waste to the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Center, 2750 Patterson St., Greensboro, NC. The HHW Collection Center is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
