Guilford County will host a Public Safety Career Expo on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 3 to 6 p.m. at 401 W. Sycamore St., Greensboro.

The Public Safety Career Expo is open to residents interested in exploring careers in public safety and learning about current job opportunities across multiple county departments and divisions, including Animal Services, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Services, Sheriff's Office, Detention Center, Juvenile Detention, and Security.

Sheriff Danny H. Rogers announces that the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) is officially beginning the transition to the new Sheriff’s Office Administrative Building located at 401 W. Sycamore St., Greensboro, NC 27401. This move will centralize several key administrative functions of the Sheriff’s Office under one roof to better serve the residents of Guilford County.

The Otto Zenke Building, located at 400 W. Washington St., Greensboro, NC 27401, will no longer be available to the public after Monday, Dec. 8. The following divisions will be housed in the new building:

Guilford County is urging residents to stay alert this holiday season and take steps to protect themselves and their families from scam attempts.

Guilford County will never call to demand immediate payment over the phone or request credit or debit card numbers over the phone or via email.

The county is warning of the following “Twelve Scams of Christmas”: 

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) urges residents not to become a victim of scams this holiday season. Scammers tend to get more creative and aggressive during this time. It is important to educate and protect yourself by understanding common types of scams.

The safest option for making payments is online through secure websites. If you need to mail a payment, walk it directly into the post office rather than using your home mailbox or a collection box.

The Guilford County Division of Public Health’s Drug and Injury Prevention and Violence Prevention Programs, together with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) Re-Entry Initiative, will host a Re-Entry Simulation event on June 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Simkins Pavilion at Barber Park, 1500 Barber Park Drive, Greensboro.

The community is invited to join public safety teams for a day of fun. Come meet your first responders, ask questions, learn about resources, and check out their vehicle. Fun for the whole family including food, music, games, and more!
