About the Adopt-A-Mom Program

The Adopt-A-Mom Program is sponsored by Every Baby Guilford and coordinates prenatal care for low to medium-risk pregnant women who are not eligible for Medicaid, do not have private insurance to cover the cost of care, and cannot afford to pay out of pocket for care. Patients who wish to enroll in the Adopt-A-Mom Program should contact Elbia Altamirez at 336-641-7513 for an appointment.

The following is a current list of all participating OB/GYN practices in Guilford County who help ensure access to prenatal care for all women by providing prenatal care to Adopt-A-Mom Program participants:

  • Guilford County Department of Public Health clinics in Greensboro and High Point
  • Cone Health Center for Women's Healthcare at Femina
  • Cone Health Center for Women's Healthcare at Stoney Creek
  • Cone Health Center for Women's Healthcare at Renaissance
  • Center for Women's Healthcare at MedCenter Greensboro
  • The Adopt-A-Mom Program also negotiates discounted rates for lab work and ultrasounds

The Adopt-A-Mom Program has existed for more than 30 years and has received many awards for being a creative, community driven solution to significant health challenges. The program has a proven record of success, as a best practice program that demonstrates success in improving maternal and child health, improving quality of care, reducing health care costs, an example of excellence in community health improvement, connecting immigrants to existing community resources, and as an inspiration to the state for improving the lives of children and their families in Guilford County.
