The Guilford County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt an $889,196,646 General Fund Budget for the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 (FY2027) during a called special meeting, Thursday, June 25. The Board of Commissioners’ adopted budget adjusts the property tax rate to 78.95 cents per $100 of assessed valuation, an increase of 5.9 cents. 

The budget reflects our ability to address five core budget principles: 

The Guilford County Board of Commissioners will hold a series of budget town hall meetings and livability forums to hear from the community about the fiscal year 2026-27 county budget and proposed strategic plan. There will be five sessions held from early to mid-April at different locations throughout the county.

Guilford County Board of Commissioners Chair Melvin “Skip” Alston will deliver his 2025 State of the County address on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 4 p.m. in the Board Chambers at the Old Guilford County Courthouse. Chairman Alston’s remarks will focus on the theme of “One Guilford: Measuring Our Success, Planning Our Future,” highlighting how data-driven decision-making, strategic investments, and community partnerships are shaping a stronger, more resilient Guilford County.

During the final hours of their regularly scheduled meeting today, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to appoint Victor Isler as the next Guilford County Manager. 

Isler brings 17 years of experience in local government, with a demonstrated track record of fostering strong community partnerships and driving innovative public policy solutions. He has served in leadership roles across Durham County, Forsyth County, and most recently his tenure in Guilford County as Assistant County Manager. 

On Wednesday, June 18, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt a $847.3 million General Fund budget for the Fiscal Year 2025-2026.

The Guilford County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a Special Meeting for Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 4:00PM in the Commissioners Chamber located on the second floor of the Old County Courthouse, 301 W. Market St., Greensboro, NC.  The purpose of the Special Meeting is to consider and adopt the FY 2026-27 budget; hold a Closed Session pursuant to N.C.G.S 143-318.11 (a) (1) (3)&(6); and conduct any other necessary business.

The Board reserves the right to take action on any properly noticed items.

As result of the passage of Senate Bill 889 by the North Carolina General Assembly on June 10, 2026, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners will adjust its planned budget adoption schedule for the County’s Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget.
