Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is partnering with the BISSELL Pet Foundation to host the Empty the Shelters adoption event from Wednesday, Oct 1. through Wednesday, Oct. 15. In response to recent confirmed rabies cases in the Jamestown area, Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is suspending the intake of healthy cats. This measure is being taken out of an abundance of caution and will remain in effect until further notice. GCAS will continue to accept cats that are sick, injured, or pose a danger to the public.Residents who suspect a cat may be exhibiting signs of rabies are urged to contact Guilford County Animal Control immediately at 336-641-5990.
Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is hosting a Mobile Pet Assistance Clinic (MPAC) on Thursday, July 24 from 12 to 3 p.m. at 710 Huffine Mill Road, Greensboro. The clinic will offer vital resources to local pet owners at no cost.The clinic will provide free one-year rabies vaccinations, pet food, and essential pet supplies. The MPAC event is part of GCAS’s ongoing effort to support the health and well-being of pets and their families throughout the county.
The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health is alerting Guilford County residents that a raccoon on Millburn Drive in Greensboro tested positive for the rabies virus on August 27, 2025. This is the seventh confirmed case of animal rabies in 2025.
