In honor of Veterans Day and Operation Green Light, Guilford County will illuminate the Old Guilford County Courthouse and other county buildings in green show support and appreciation for veterans and their service.

Operation Green Light is a nationwide initiative led by the National Association of Counties (NACo) to raise awareness of the unique challenges veterans face and highlight resources available to them at the local, state and federal levels. This year's campaign runs from Wednesday, Nov. 4, through Wednesday, Nov. 11.

In addition to the Old Guilford County Courthouse, the Guilford County Emergency Services building on Pepperstone Drive and the Guilford County Courthouse in High Point will also be illuminated in green during Operation Green Light.

"Operation Green Light remains a powerful and visible show of support for the brave men and women who have served our country," said Robert Shelly, Guilford County Veterans Services Director. "We encourage residents, business owners, and municipalities to join us by replacing one light bulb with a green bulb or changing your smart light bulb to green near a window or front door. This simple gesture sends a powerful message to veterans that they are recognized, valued, and supported."

Residents, businesses, and municipalities are encouraged to share their participation on social media using the hashtags #GuilfordGlowsGreen and #OperationGreenLight.

Guilford County Veterans Services connects veterans and their families with a variety of benefits, programs and resources. The department is part of a nationwide network of local, state and federal agencies dedicated to assisting veterans and their families.
