In honor of Veterans Day, Guilford County will illuminate county buildings, including the Old Guilford County Courthouse, in a vibrant green light from Tuesday, Nov. 4, through Tuesday, Nov. 11, as part of Operation Green Light, a nationwide campaign supporting and showing appreciation for military veterans.

The initiative, led by the National Association of Counties (NACo), raises awareness around the unique challenges faced by many veterans while highlighting the resources available to them at the local, state, and federal levels.

The Guilford County Emergency Services building on Pepperstone Drive and the Guilford County Courthouse in High Point will also be lighted green.

The Board of Commissioners passed a resolution during their Thursday, Oct. 16 regular meeting to help support the national effort and encourage residents and local municipalities to participate in Operation Green Light by changing one light to a green bulb by a window or front door of their homes and local business. The gesture is meant to convey a heartfelt message to veterans that they are recognized, valued, and supported. Residents, businesses, and municipalities are encouraged to share their participation on social media using the hashtags #GuilfordGlowsGreen and #OperationGreenLight.
