All county residents are invited to participate in Guilford Creek Week, a collaboration between Guilford County, City of Greensboro, City of High Point, local businesses, and nonprofits from Saturday, June 21 to Saturday, June 28. Each year, this initiative provides fun and educational opportunities throughout Guilford County to raise awareness about the health of our watersheds.

The farmers market will be held on Thursday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature minority farmers offering fresh, locally grown produce and meat. The event will also showcase live music and performances, craft vendors, and local food trucks. There is no admission fee to attend the farmers' market.
Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS) is limiting the intake of cats and kittens due to positive cases of feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) at the Guilford County Animal Resource Center. The virus was detected in four kittens brought into the animal shelter from the High Point and Pleasant Garden area. As a result, the GCAS is closing off two kitten halls and will place cats and kittens currently at the shelter under quarantine for the next two weeks to reduce the spread of FPV.

In honor of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, observed on Sunday, June 15, the Guilford County Division of Social Services (DSS) is hosting a “Beyond Age” Community Event on Friday, June 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at the parking lot of DSS located on 1203 Maple St. in Greensboro.The “Beyond Age” Community Event will feature more than 40 vendors and agencies serving adults and individuals. Attendees can access a wide range of resources, including free health screenings, mobile health units, and a variety of local food trucks.
Guilford County Family Justice Center (FJC) is celebrating a decade of transformation with a 10th Anniversary Breakfast on Friday, June 6. The FJC 10th Anniversary Breakfast will be hosted at Grandover Resort & Spa in Greensboro from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The program will include remarks by Board of Commissioner Chair Melvin “Skip” Alston, Commissioner At-Large Kay Cashion, Greensboro Mayor Pro Tem Marikay Abuzuaiter, FJC Director Catherine Johnson and survivor testimonies.
