Passport Office Holiday Closings

Our Passport Office will be closed on December 24, 25, and 26, as well as January 1 and 2, 2026.

Guilford County Register of Deeds is now a Walk-In Passport Facility. No appointment necessary.

Hours of Passport Acceptance (Walk-In Facility), Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

U.S. Passport Application

Applying for a U.S. Passport?

As a Walk-In Passport Acceptance Facility, we will accept your completed application for a new passport and forward it to the Passport Services section of the U.S. Department of State for an issuance determination.

Requirements

  • All applicants must appear in person.
  • A completed passport application. Visit the U.S. Department of State’s official website to download, fill out, and print the DS-11 form before your visit to reduce your office wait time.
  • Provide original or certified evidence of U.S. Citizenship (i.e., U.S. birth certificate*, previously issued, undamaged U.S. passport, Certificate of Naturalization, Consular Report of Birth Abroad).
  • Valid government-issued identification.
  • A recent 2″ x 2″ passport photo. Photos can be taken on-site for a fee of $10 per applicant.

  • Routine Service: four (4) to six (6) weeks.
  • Expedited Service: two (2) to three (3) weeks.

Limited parking is available in the immediate area around the building. Public parking is also available just across the street at the Greene Street Parking Deck, 211 S. Greene St., in Greensboro.

The Guilford County Passport Services is located in the Register of Deeds office on the first floor of the building at 201 W. Market Street in Greensboro room 108.

Directions

From US 40 Eastbound:

Take exit 218B to merge onto Freeman Mill Rd. Take a slight right onto S. Edgeworth St. Turn right onto W. Market St. The building will be on the right. Please enter the building via the Market Street entrance.

From US 40 Westbound:

Take exit 224 to merge onto E. Lee St., which will become E. Gate City Blvd. Continue onto E. Gate City Blvd. Turn right onto S. Eugene St. Turn right onto W. Market St. The building will be on the right. Please enter the building via the Market Street entrance.
