The Guilford County Family Justice Center and Safe Alliance of Mecklenburg County are partnering to host the Seventh Annual North Carolina Family Justice Center & Collaborative Communities Conference, alongside presenting sponsor WellCare of North Carolina (WellCare). The conference will take place November 5–6, 2025, at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.

Guilford County has appointed Sonya Desai as the Interim Director for the Guilford County Family Justice Center (FJC) effective Saturday, Sept. 6. Desai began her journey with the county as a front-line navigator in June 2015 when the FJC opened its first site in Greensboro. She transitioned to a coordinator in 2016 and was promoted to the FJC Greensboro site manager in 2018. 

For the ninth consecutive year, the Guilford County Family Justice Center (FJC) will host Camp HOPE America – North Carolina, Guilford County, a nationally recognized, evidence-based camping and mentoring program for children impacted by violence and abuse.

Despite a recent fire at the Guilford County Katie S. Cashion Center, the Guilford County Family Justice Center (FJC) remains committed to serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and stalking.

Guilford County Family Justice Center (FJC) is celebrating a decade of transformation with a 10th Anniversary Breakfast on Friday, June 6. The FJC 10th Anniversary Breakfast will be hosted at Grandover Resort & Spa in Greensboro from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The program will include remarks by Board of Commissioner Chair Melvin “Skip” Alston, Commissioner At-Large Kay Cashion, Greensboro Mayor Pro Tem Marikay Abuzuaiter, FJC Director Catherine Johnson and survivor testimonies.

In honor of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, observed on Sunday, June 15, the Guilford County Family Justice Center’s Elder Justice Committee is seeking nominations from the community for the 2025 Elder Justice Champion Award. This award recognizes individuals and organizations that go above and beyond to protect the rights, dignity, and safety of older adults.

Guidance Carolina has been awarded a major grant from the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL) to launch RISE for Change: Reimagining Elder Justice Care Management, a groundbreaking 36-month initiative designed to reduce adult maltreatment and transform care management for older adults in Guilford County.
