Alicia Walker-Patterson
Alicia Patterson is a Full Spectrum Doula with decades of experience as a health and human rights advocate, caregiver, and project planner. Bridging her Bay Area roots to North Carolina's Piedmont Triad, she is deeply committed to reproductive justice and welcomes diverse community doula clients while advocating for expanded healthcare access.
With a lifelong dedication to healing and community empowerment, Alicia is also an Herbalist, Flower Healer, and Community Advocate. She is a descendant of Jasper Darrett, who holds the record for the most descendants born in Houston, TX, and her lineage includes home-birthing Black and Indigenous women from Texas, Louisiana, the Carolinas, California, and Virginia. As a hypnotherapist, her practices are rooted in plantation traditions and Southern-American herbal medicine. Alicia is the founder of First Vision Birth and Family Services, where she provides Birth, Postnatal, Grief, and Death Doula services, along with breastfeeding support. She holds certifications from SMC and DONA.
Alicia began her journey in postpartum care in 2004, the same year she first answered a community call to action for healthcare campaigning and advocacy. Over the years, she has had the privilege of training parent/child organizing teams, community groups, professional teams, and even state legislatures in Washington and Oregon on conflict resolution, bystander intervention, and somatic release. Her healthcare and community organizing experience spans every campaign level, from mayoral and state representative races to gubernatorial, senatorial, and even a presidential campaign in 2020, which she worked on while pregnant with her first child.
