Guilford County Fire Marshal's Office handles all fire inspections and investigations within the county, with the exception of those areas inside the city limits of Greensboro & High Point.
Our Inspection's Role is to complete all requests for new construction plan review, as well as state mandated fire safety inspections of all commercial structures.
We also perform mandated fire inspection for all Guilford County Schools as well as all Charter Schools located within Guilford County including areas inside the city limits of Greensboro & High Point.
Additionally, we provide home fire inspection services for Group and Foster Homes upon request.
All members of the Fire Marshal's Office are qualified fire investigators that assist each of the 22 Fire Districts in fire origin & cause determination when requested.

*** Due to the Current Covid-19 Pandemic, Guilford County Fire Marshal's Office has stopped all regular fire inspections including Foster Home, Group Homes, Daycares, and regular Commercial business. Our Office is still open and we are assisting in the Covid-19 efforts.***
*** GCFMO Covid-19 Update May 11th, 2020 - Guilford County Fire Marshal's Office has started back to performing limited inspections. GCFMO is in Phase #1 of reopening which includes Foster Homes, Permit request, and occupancies under 12,000 sq. ft. We are still not performing inspections on nursing/medical facilities, group homes, and congregate living facilities at this time. ***
