Legal Process Division Moves
Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that as of Thursday, June 21st, the Legal Process Division of the Sheriff’s Office will no longer be located at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC), 401 W. Sycamore St., Greensboro. The services are temporarily being moved to the Greensboro Courthouse, 201 S. Eugene St., Room 103LE. The move is taking place due to renovations being completed at the LEC.
The services that will be available at the Greensboro Courthouse are Conceal Carry Handgun Permits (CHP), Pistol Permits, Fingerprinting Services and Civil Process Services. Civil Processes include Magistrate Summons, Civil Summons, Claim and Deliveries, Writs for Possession (real and personal property), Civil Orders for Arrest, Juvenile Summons, Tax Warrants, Attachments, Writs of Executions (enforcement of money judgments), Child Custody Orders, Notice of Rights.
Please be aware that upon arrival to the courthouse you will have to enter through metal detectors and are subject to being searched. We highly advise to leave the following items in your vehicle or at home when planning to come to the new location, cell phones, any weapons, lighters, computer devices, cameras and any other item deemed as dangerous by security staff.
People conducting business in the Legal Process Division area will have to access it from the Plaza Level and then proceed to the Lower Ground Level. The Handicap access is still available from the Eugene Street side of the building.
