The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce our partnership with the Sherri Denese Jackson Foundation to bring Domestic Violence Prevention training and awareness to officers and members of our community. We fully support any efforts to keep our communities safe and enhance the lives of families. We understand that domestic violence not only affects the victims, but the community as a whole.

The Foundation was launched in 2008 in Greensboro by Portia Shipman to help victims of domestic abuse reclaim their lives by breaking free from domestic abuse and educating the community in hopes to save lives. Since then, the Sherri Denese Jackson Foundation has expanded its vision and goals. They have had hundreds of people participate in their programs and have reached thousands through public awarenesscampaigns, as well as through their website (

Last night, the community remembered Sherri Denese Jackson on the 11th year anniversary after her body was found on June 26, 2008 at an event hosted by the foundation. The Sheriff’s Executive Administrative Director & Assistant, Catherine Netter, was one of the guest speakers where she expressed the importance of domestic violence awareness, the impact it has on children and families, and the ripple effect it sends through the community when these tragedies are not properly addressed.

Please help the GCSO spread the word on this new partnership, an example of Sheriff Rogers' commitment to our community and dedication to collaborate with local organizations to bring positive transformations to the lives of women, men, and children, one life at time.
