Our youth today need guidance from adults more than ever. In this age of independence and technology, as well as misinformation regarding law enforcement's role in our communities programs like the GCSO Youth Academy are of great help in instilling leadership values. The participants (ages 13-17) learned about law enforcement operations, and what it takes to have a career in law enforcement and first responder agencies. I am proud of our graduates, a diverse group of 30 young people representing all corners of our county.

10 of the graduates so far have committed to joining our Explorer Post and we are confident that all involved will continue to be a bright and valuable group for Guilford County.

Please visit guilfordcountysheriff.com for more information. You can also check out photos and more regarding our community programs on GCSO's Facebook and Twitter pages.

To our young participants: It was an honor to have you in our Youth Academy, remember that the decisions you make now help forge a path to success, learn from your mistakes and build on your successes.
