Guilford County Public Health Honors Local Community Partners (Health Information)

Post Date:01/31/2019 3:03 PM

Statistics show that Guilford County still has too many residents who do not receive regular health care.  Guilford County Health Department recently advanced their efforts to address health issues by partnering with several local health-related medical practices and institutions to multiply their efforts in community health services.  The partnerships are so successful that the Health Department recognized seven of the partners in an appreciation ceremony last month. The honorees were: James Kaley, DDS and Bruce Burns, D.D.S. for their provision of no-cost pediatric dental services;  Cone Health Foundation for support of the JustTEENS Clinic at the health department in Greensboro; Foundation for a Healthy High Point, for their support of a JustTEENS clinic in High Point; Guilford Child Development for their sponsorship of the nurse-family partnership in-home health program;  Mount Zion Baptist Church for their support of diabetes management and prostate cancer awareness screenings; and Triad Adult and Pediatric Medicine for their adult health medical clinic services.

Along with the American Heart Association and local hospitals in Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem, these institutions have provided several million dollars’ worth of reduced cost or free health care services to populations across Guilford County.  Guilford County Health Director, Merle Green, states “we could not have the breadth or depth of health services without the financial and medical support of these partners.”  These types of partnerships have helped to improve the health status of Guilford residents through collaborations that manage patient care in a planned systematic process.  When multiple community partners combine resources, the benefits to the community are immeasurable.
