Two Guilford County Public Health Staff Received North Carolina Public Health Association (NCPHA) Awards at the December Annual Conference (Health Information)
The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services (GC DHHS), Public Health Division is proud to recognize Wanda Mackey and Felicia Reid for winning awards at the NCPHA Fall Educational Conference on December 13, 2018 in Charlotte, NC.
Wanda Mackey received the Jeanne Palmer Excel Award from North Carolina Public Health Association’s Prevention and Wellness Section. This award recognizes an outstanding health educator for their contributions to promoting the health and well-being of North Carolina residents and the health education profession. Wanda was celebrated for her 26 years of creative leadership in human sexuality education, her mentorship and guidance of future health educators, and her facilitation of Smart Girls Leadership Academy. Wanda Mackey ensures the provision of high quality health education programs and services to community members to enhance the health of women, young adults and adolescents.
Felicia Reid received the prestigious Margaret B. Dolan Award for her significant contributions to public health nursing in Guilford County. This award was established in memory of Margaret B. Dolan, an outstanding public health nurse who trained at UNC and was instrumental in prompting President Roosevelt and the US Congress to fund new programs and positions in many branches of public health, including public health nursing. Like Nurse Dolan, Felicia Reid was recognized for her contributions in establishing new initiatives for the direct delivery of health care services to populations throughout Guilford County ranging from newborns to elderly residents. Ms. Reid has made a significant impact in improving the health of all residents of Guilford County.
